This piece was done to celebrate my sister's wedding to an absolute legend, Tony Wall. The trees are supposed to represent them and they combine in thier marriage - it is based on an old greek Aesop fable. A couple help a beggar, take him in and give him food and shelter. He is of course Zeus in disguise and he offers them a wish. They ask to die at the same moment. They live long, wonderful lives, and then at the moment of their death are transformed into two olive trees that are wrapped around each other. I am going to add a young shoot to the piece when i get the chance - as they have a son, and I have a nephew. Little guy calleed marcus... (As Of 2008 there are also two nieces, Ashliegh and Charlotte.) My sister has stood by me throught he worst of times and held me up. I love her immensely. She is amazing. |
