And she waits...

I largely invented this piece, all the material, etc, though some is done from life.

I have been trtying differnt colour experimentation in combination with bitumen (it is the stuff that people use to fix their chimney flus with.)

I guess I am moving further away from contemporary art, but this is what i want to do, and I hope and believe that this work has a passion in it that is truly rare. "Show me that man that is not passion's slave and I will wear him in my heart's core, in my heart of hearts, as I do thee." Shakespeare, sorry I forget which play.

And in all honesty, I don't really like contemporary art very much. There are some jewels, of course - Jeff Coontz and his 40 foot puppy made out of living flowers is one of my all time favourites, I mean what a legend; and in the whole sphere there is some real genius, but the focus was lost somewhere around 1970.

Minimalism is going strong - and WHY? As far as I can work out, Malevich pretty much finished it in 1915 when he did a white on white square. Applying meaning to colours and symbols that are only understood by a select few - it is so elitist. And most artists and critics purport to be socialists.

Most of the contemprary art that I have seen has to do with making fun of itself, sometimes on a grand scale involving massive amounts of time and care to produce. It seems to me to be such a small goal... but I guess that most of my work would be seen as sentimental and perhaps pretentious. Though the etiology is so far from that.

I hope that whoever is viewing this can see the time and love that I have worn into each piece, the care that I have taken; and perhaps through the whole of this site, some of the struggle that has brought me to this place.
