This piece was my first real gallery sale. I was working in a toy shop at the time, having finished my finae arts degree. I thought that a toy shop wqas pretty appropriate. It was a horrible job, I was very VERY bad at it. I was stock manager and didn't get to play with any toys at all, or talk to any children.

I was working very long hours for less than minimum wage and was pretty much clinically depressed. The guy I was working for was a little nasty and refused to pay me for some of the design work thatI had done. I was so thankful as I then had a valid reason to quit.

At the same time I was having a small show at a local library. A gallery owner saw my work and asked me to show it.

I sold this piece straight away for more than I would have made in four weeks working.

Between that and beiing suicidal I decided to try and paint for a living. It all worked out well in the end, really.

I think I will inite my old boss to my next show.

Nuts to them.
