IN VIRTUTUS:

Oh brevity, the soul, the heart and hopes of all art explanatory and exploratory criticisms.

The wine and the blood are the same - they are interchangeable as Christ made them at the last supper.
The shroud wee-ell, tis a shroud and hence shroud-like in nature and form.
Also you may notice that there is no continuance of limbs and torso amidst said shroud.
The body of Christ - the body is gone. I was going to put a vague impression of the SHROUD OF TURIN. But I have never liked Turinians I mean who does? Really? Let's be honest here…

And the photo- well me and my VISUAL FIXATIONS!! Just because I am like some sort of artist type guy what with the red shoes and the damned paint everywhere and I would grow a beard but I am not hairy enough.
In virtutus means in virtue. Who in our history was more virtuous than Christ?

Also - well there is always more what could be more bottomless than the holes in my mind? The religious theme is but one interpretation - the other is far more personal and involves nothing about shrouds, Turinian or otterwise!

You see I am not only bipolar or manic depressive but also an alcoholic. I have been sober and far more sombre since 1998. That means I have been trapped within my seething consciousness and crooked brain with the sideways lean without ever EVER having an egress; an escape! No drunken nights for me! Never again! And I never got to try absinthe! So the wine for me was fairly direct - symbolism shmymbolism.

Also and on a more serious note (say a Dm) the aforementioned bipolar disorder has led me down paths more serious and sorrowful. Suicide attempts and self-harm and other psychotically induced actions are not unknown to me. And the blood and the alcohol were often connected though they are no more.

This is in reality one of my most intensely serious works.
