I did this piece from life whilst still at university. I was doing a lot of works concerning the nature of masculinity in contemporary living. This piece was one of the results. I envisaged the model without skin, as we cannot escape from what we are inside; from whatever it is that lies beneath the surface.
I followed the idea with attempting blooded sheets - some primitive indication of a rite of passage.
