Another experiment with expressionism - and one that I liked enough to post. The title is, I guess, because of the impossibility of her existence. Certainly in MY life that's for sure. Sometimes an unfinished or rough work will have more meaning than my most finished works. But I do not derive the same satisfaction from them, and I don't feel that I am as good at them as some others who are more deeply involved in the form. And I am also a LOT less interested in abstract works, I guess.I have done enough of them and known enough artists to honestly say that the meaning that they have is often applied to them after they are painted and it is not necessarily an inherent part of each piece that can be enjoyed without a fairly deep study of abstract etiology. I have done enough of that kind of study. I have noticed the prevalence of black turtle-neck sweaters amongst art critics and enthusiasts of minimalism and abstract art. I think that this is because turtle-necks provide a nice tight seal for them: so that they don't inadvertently pull their heads out of their own, or each other's arses. |
