This piece presents something that I have not as yet tried in Watercolours - the darkness surrounding the colour as in classical oils, the glow from the material of her dress as in my pastels.

I often paint women holding each other. Sometimes men and women. But mostly women. The idea is that they are comforting each other. This can be taken any way you like, but my reason is that time (yeah I know I am kind of obsessed with it) annihilates us – and our beauty – and this is what they are holding each other in the face of. That desperate and human touch.
And women because, given the choice, what else would I paint? I mean come on pick the most beautiful thing in the universe. Well to me anyway.

This piece has disappeared somewhere in my house, frame and all. I am going to have to get my mother to try and find it for me. Next time she visits. Yeah. I am pretty sure I haven't sold it and forgotten.
