Colchis is the island where Jason and the Argonauts found the Golden Fleece, which seemed appropriate and more original than Atlantis even though there are no visible sheep, fleecy or not. The cold kiss part I added later to the title as it fits in with the rest of this story… the cold kiss of fate:
I originally started this piece as a prelude for a much larger work that I was commissioned to do. I found a cool book of Roman ruins (um I just like ruins, no real other reason. Nice symbol of a crumbling society and decadence. Decadence actually means decay, it just got hijacked and somehow turned around by communists saying it and us interpreting it. Weird.)
Anyway it was a sketch for the giant oil piece that I did for a client and now stands on its own. Cool huh? This is the way it looked before i did all that work. Hm maybe I should have kept this one as it was and done a new one. Oh well.
