The beginning of 2004 was a very difficult and dangerous time for me. The despair took hold. It led me by the throat, by the heart, to hell. And hence my career (I prefer to call it my careen) once more ground to a halt, and once more I had to regain the gentle edges and soft sadness in my work.

This piece represents one of my first efforts from that time... as I forced my way through it. Watercolours may be the most difficult of media, but I am obstinate enough, yes. I will do it just BECAUSE it is hard.
